Paradox
Final Artwork

Artist Statement
This photo is a representation of the word Paradox in relation to Schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is when a person has difficulty discerning reality and non-reality, With this struggle comes a high chance of hallucinations which tend to cause panic and paranoia. In this picture I wanted to capture the paradox between that hallucination and their inability to uncover reality. This is the depiction of a hallucination going on and the subsequent fear and panic felt within the person.
This picture does not have a lot of symbolism and is very straightforward. The person is in minimal clothing to give the feel of nakedness and, therefore, vulnerability. They are in complete and total darkness in order to symbolize them being trapped in their own mind. They are also curled over and in a protective stance in order to convey that sense of fear and panic. Finally the face above them is the hallucination which is fuzzy around the edges in order to more truly convey that disruption of reality.
